Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To support civil society organisations in promoting fundamental rights, Union values, and the rule of law at all levels across the EU
  • To foster democratic participation, transparency, and good governance by enhancing citizen and civil society engagement in public policy-making

Priorities 

  • Priority 1: To strengthen the capacity and awareness of key actors, including civil society and public authorities, on the application, scope, and content of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
  • Priority 2: To empower civil society actors to monitor, protect, and strengthen the civic space, enhance their resilience against threats, and foster meaningful engagement with EU-level institutions
  • Priority 3: To strengthen the capacity of civil society and legal professionals to engage in strategic litigation for the effective enforcement of Charter rights and access to justice at national and EU level
  • Priority 4: To combat hate speech and hate crime by enhancing prevention, reporting, and support for victims
  • Priority 5: To support the protection of whistleblowers by strengthening civil society’s capacity to ensure safe reporting and access to remedies

Eligibility 

  • Be a non-profit making entity for lead applicants
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries:
    • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
  • A consortium composed of at least 1 entity
  • The following entities are only eligible as co-applicants: profit legal entities
