Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • Cross cutting issues: digitalisation, skills and social innovation
  • CO2 neutral iron ore reduction (increasing the use of pre-reduced iron carriers)
  • Technologies to improve energy efficiency, increase heat recovery and enhance Process Integration (PI) approaches in steel production
  • Advanced steel alloys for special applications
  • Circular economy and sector coupling solutions to meet the zero-waste goal for steelmaking
  • Preparation of steel CO/CO2 gases for Carbon Capture Use and Storage (CCUS)

  • RFCS Pilot and Demonstration Projects (PDPs)

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries : EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories), non-EU countries : listed EEA countries and countries associated to the Digital Europe Programme. Click here
  • A consortium composed of at least 2 entities, established in at least 2 different EU Member States or associated countries to the programme must be constituted

Additional information

  • Between 36 and 54 months (Projects of longer duration may be accepted in duly justified cases. Extensions are possible, if duly justified and through an amendment

Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 100 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 5 million and 9 million euro (and exceptionally up to EUR 18 million for large demonstrators)
  • Funding rate: 50% of the total eligible costs
